The focus of this email is to let you know about some community meetings and events coming up over the next few weeks.
Alleyway naming discussion
Tomorrow, Tuesday June 13 starting at 7pm, there will be a discussion about naming the alleyway behind the 1000 block of Euclid St NW (between Euclid/Fairmont and 11th/Sherman). A property owner owns several alleyway lots and is looking to build single-family residences there. To do so they are looking to give the alleyway a name. This is a great opportunity for us to consider who or what we want to honor with the naming of physical space in our neighborhood. The meeting will be held via Zoom (link here). Neighbors on that block should have also gotten a flyer advertising this meeting on behalf of the property owner - please let me know if they missed you! All are welcome, but I especially encourage residents of the 1000 blocks of Euclid and Fairmont, and the 2600 blocks of 11th and Sherman, to attend if you can.
ANC 1A cleanup day
On Saturday June 17, from 11am to about noon, ANC 1A (north of where we live, if you’re in Single Member District 1B09 with me!) is organizing a community clean up day. There will be several meet-up points across ANC 1A, including some near where we live. Sign up here - and I hope to see you there!
Columbia Heights Day
On Saturday June 24, from 11am to 5pm, District Bridges will be hosting the 15th annual Columbia Heights Day. As usual it will be held at the fields near Tubman Elementary School (3101 13th St NW) and will feature local vendors, artists, music, and entertainment for children as well as adults. Read more about the event here. Additionally, Columbia Heights Day is seeking volunteers - if you are interested in helping during some of the day, sign up here. I’ll definitely be stopping by, and I hope to see you there!
Recurring ANC 1B meetings
As a reminder, ANC 1B’s full Commission meetings are generally held on the first Thursday of every month. This means the next several meetings of the full Commission are:
Thursday, July 6
Thursday, August 3
Thursday, September 7
Additionally, each of the ANC 1B committees meets approximately monthly. The next meetings of committees are:
Economic Development committee - Thursday June 15 at 6:30 pm
Zoning, Preservation, and Development committee - Tuesday June 20 at 6:30 pm
Alcoholic Beverage Regulation committee - Wednesday June 21 at 7 pm
